The MItchell County, NC Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service will offer a Master Gardener training course in January, 2022. Here's your chance to learn about raising food and flowers, and to get awarded a certification.
Following is the information provided by the Mitchell County Cooperative Extension Service. Remember: if you're interested, the first thing to do is to call the Service and reserve a spot in one of the informational sessions held in October 2021.
Learn about a broad range of horticultural topics and how to apply them to growing food or flowers:
- Vegetable and fruit production
- Wildlife damage prevention
- Soil improvement
- Weed Management
- Integrated pest management
- Botany
- Landscape design
- Tree and grounds maintenance
- Lawn Care
- And more!
12-week Training Program begins January 2022
To apply to the program, applicants must:
- Attend one of three informational sessions:
10/5 at 9am at Bakersville's Historic Courthouse (Google Map)
10/9 at 10am at Bakersville's Historic Courthouse (Google Map) or
10/14 at 6pm at the Mitchell Senior Center. (Google Map) - Submit an application.
- If you are selected pay $125 registration fee. Fee covers training materials. (If cost is prohibitive contact Shane Biddix, Assistant Extensioin Agent, Agriculture at 828-688-4811.)
Novice gardeners are as welcome to apply as are lifelong gardeners!
